Unit 11 - P3

Today we're going to start work on the cardiovascular part of unit11. Complete the following in a word document:
P3:
  1. Take your resting pulse, and record it as beats per minute.
  2. You need to compare your resting heart rate to after exercise. To do this, you can either do 30 seconds of star jumps or go up and down the stairs outside for 30 seconds. Take a stopwatch so you can time yourselves immediately afterwards to work out your heart rate.
  3. You also need to produce a write up of your experiment. Outline what the circulatory system does and why this is important. Once you have done this, explain why it changes when you exercise (think about what is carried in the blood and what is needed in your muscles).
M2:
  1. For M2, you need to explain how glucose and oxygen enter single celled organisms. You need to use this information to justify why larger organisms (like us!) need a circulatory system.
D2:
  1. For D2, you need to explain how and why the digestive, circulatory and respiratory systems are interrelated.
